  • Orientation

The countdown is on!  Students have only a few days of vacation left.  We just can't wait to meet our new 6th grade bunch.  That's one reason we're hoping you come to the orientation on Thursday, August 18 at 6:00 :) I've had a few of you contact me regarding information that will be covered Thursday evening.  I'm glad to hear many of you attended the open house we had last year.  You will be hearing some of the same information at our orientation, but you'll also hear some more specific details regarding our Student Support office, cafeteria services, PTO, and our goal of making your child's transition to middle school an easy one.

Please note that attendance at 6th grade orientation is not required.  Gathering in this manner just allows us to introduce ourselves and "6th grade life at MSA" to our new students.  Our hope is that orientation at MSA helps quash some of the anxious feelings common among the kids during this time.

With that said, I hope to see you on Thursday!

  • Supply Inquiries

Posted by Lauren Bailey at 8/2/2011 5:00:00 PM

I'm pleased to see that so many of you have visited our website!  I have been receiving many inquiries regarding school supplies (how many folders, etc. to buy).  The list posted on our page is a general list of supplies compiled by all of the 6th grade teachers.  A definite list of supplies needed for your student can only be determined once he/she receives a class schedule.  Each teacher will provide course-specific lists for students during the first week.  Rest assured that students will only need basic items on the first few days (a folder with paper, pencils, pens).

As far as lockers go, I see that our 6th graders are already quite excited and eager to decorate.  Decorating the inside of your locker with magnetic organizers is fine, but stickers are no good as their sticky quality tends to make them permanent fixtures.  You can imagine that our summer crew does not like to pry stickers out of lockers at the end of the year.

That's all I have for now.  If you have any more questions, please feel free to send them my way.  Less than two weeks to go ... YAY :-D
